Visiting Milan, Italy Is An Extraordinary Adventure
I just recently took a trip to Milan, Italy and it was just so amazing that I had to write about it. I did some research, before my trip and found out that the public transportation system was kind of hectic, so I decided to book a car ahead of time. I have to say that the prices were pretty low compared to some of the other locations that I have looked into. I used a budget website to rent the car, which is helpful information for anyone that might be interested in following my footsteps. Milan is a beautiful city; it is full of old cathedrals, castles, museums, art galleries, and much more. The thing I found most exciting was some of the buildings and towers are made completely of glass. This is really a sight to see.
Milan is highly known for its fashion. Just about every woman I saw looked like a fashion model. They’re all so cleverly stylish. Although, I do not like to shop that much, I will say if you are a true shopaholic, then you would be in heaven here because Milan is known as the global capital for shopping and fashion.
The Roof Of The Cathedral Duomo
One Thing that I took part in, while I was there was the rooftop view from the Duomo. If you buy a ticket you will be able to get on top of this huge cathedral and admire the view below. You will start your decent to the top by elevator, then you will have to climb a few stairs, and before you know it you will be at the top of the Duomo. Keep in mind that the Duomo is one of the biggest cathedrals in the world. All I can say is that the view from the top is amazing and this was definitely the best part of my trip. There are tons of amazing statues to admire from the rooftop, as well. The only thing that I did not like was that if you want to take photos or film you are expected to pay any extra fee. Although, I can’t understand the reason for the extra fee, you may want to do whatever possible to capture this amazing site on film, so that you never forget it.
The Pirelli Tower
Another amazing and exciting monument that I got to see while I was in Milan was the Pirelli Tower. This tower holds with it a lot of history. One thing you cannot take away from a trip like this is history. This skyscraper has a unique, skinny appearance and it is definitely unlike any type of skyscraper that I have ever seen. before. This building was built in 1950 by the Pirelli Company, which is also how it got its name. The tower was constructed when Milan was experiencing an economic boom. Unfortunately, during an afternoon in 2002, a plane running low on fuel hit the tower. This accident killed the pilot and two other people, who were inside the building. This really is quite an amazing sight to see, not to mention the fact that there are lots of hotels located near the tower, so if you can afford it, you should definitely book a room there.
I chose to stay in the Rex Hotel, which is located close to the Pirelli Tower. The hotel has a lot to offer, including its very own basketball court. I could have not been happier with the service and the cleanliness of the staff and I highly recommend it to anyone that is visiting Milan.
